Call for Volunteers

Do you want to help make #deRSE23 happen? We are looking for volunteers to join our team and help us deliver deRSE2023 – the Conference for Research Software Engineering in Germany! The conference is taking place in-person in Paderborn between Monday the 20th and Wednesday the 22nd of February 2023.

What will I do?

Volunteers participate in a wide range of tasks which help us deliver a successful conference. Most importantly, you’ll act as a first point of contact should any delegates need assistance during the conference, and will be making sure everyone feels welcome and valued. To learn more about the tasks and details of the role, check out our Volunteer Role Description!

 What skills, experience and attributes do I need?

Along with having great communication and interpersonal skills, we ask that you are:

  • Friendly and enthusiastic about creating a warm and welcoming environment for a successful conference.

  • Willing to work as part of a team.

 If you have specific technical skills and experience such as setting-up/using audio-visual equipment or anything else you think might be particularly useful then we would love to hear about this when you apply. We will do our best to align you with a volunteer role that suits you.

What benefits do I get from volunteering?

Outside of a great opportunity to meet people in the RSE network and gain valuable organization experience, you will have:

  • the opportunity to attend some of the sessions you are interested in;
  • a discounted conference fee
  • amazing t-shirts to represent the deRSE23 team!

 I’m interested, what’s my next step?

To apply to join the volunteer team, please fill in the relevant part of the conference registration form. Applications will close on the 15th of January 2023 at midnight CET and successful applicants will be informed by the the 17th of January 2023.
